Jaana Karjalainen
PhD (Chem), eMBA
Managing Director
Jaana has a Ph.D. degree in synthetic organic chemistry from the University of Oulu, Finland, and eMBA in strategic management. She worked as a post doc in the ETH Zürich in Switzerland under Professor Dieter Seebach. She is one of the founding members and currently acts as the Managing Director with a central role in business development and sales.
Heikki Hassila

R&D Director
Heikki obtained his Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry from the University of Oulu, Finland. After an industrial post doc period at Sumitomo Chemical in Osaka, Japan, he joined the Pharmatory team as the R&D Director. Currently he is mainly involved in business development and project management of laboratory scale projects.
Petri Hukka

Production Director
Petri holds a M.Sc. in synthetic organic chemistry from the University of Oulu, Finland. He obtained extensive experience in large scale manufacturing, development and troubleshooting at Orion Corp. (Fermion) before joining Pharmatory as one of the founding members. He is in charge of scale-up and commercial operations in the production.
Seppo Lankila

QA Director
Seppo is a physical chemistry graduate (M.Sc.) from the University of Oulu, Finland. He also made a career at Orion Corp. as a research scientist responsible for quality control of packaging materials and analytical method validations as well as related regulatory aspects. At Pharmatory Seppo is our QA Director and EHS Manager.
Sari Paavola
PhD (Chem)
QC Laboratory Manager
Sari obtained her Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from the University of Helsinki, Finland, and did a post doc in KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, under Professor Christina Moberg. After joining Pharmatory Sari worked as R&D chemist and after a period of QC chemist at Fermion she returned to Pharmatory to take the position of the QC Laboratory Manager.
